Wem
A collection service can also be provided by chemists in Wem.
Prees
Prees dispensary is open for collection of prescriptions only, it is not currently possible to deliver repeat prescriptions to the dispensary, this is due to infection control during the present climate.
Dispensary
Prees is a dispensing practice for all patients who live more than one mile from a dispensing chemist. The opening hours are Monday to Friday 08:30 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 18:00.
We would be grateful if you could collect your prescriptions between 10:00 and 12:00 or 15:30 and 17:30. This is to ensure that dispensary staff have the opportunity to get your prescription ready in a timely fashion.
Please allow at least 72 hours for dispensary prescription requests to be processed and completed ready for collection.
Please note, we can no longer accept repeat prescription requests over the telephone at either surgery unless urgent.
Patient Access
Please state your collection destination as either "WEM" or "PREES" - changes to medication cannot be accepted online, if you want to change the quantity you are prescribed or wish to order additional items other than those shown on your repeat list please contact the surgery directly using one of the above methods.
Prescription Fees
Help with NHS costs
In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:
- those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
- those who are age exempt
- those with certain medical conditions
- More information is available at NHS Choices
NHS Charges
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
Prescription charges
- Single charge: £9.65
- 3-month PPC: £31.25
- 12-month PPC: £111.60
- HRT PPC: £19.30

There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website.
Medication Reviews
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to complete a medication review with either a doctor, nurse practitioner, practice nurse or our pharmacy technician at least once a year to review these regular medications and a notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
